JFK terminals explained
JFK has six active terminals: T1 (international), T4 (Delta, international), T5 (JetBlue, TWA Hotel), T7 (British Airways, Alaska), and T8 (American Airlines). They're arranged in a U-shape around the central roadway. The AirTrain connects all terminals in minutes — it's free between terminals and runs 24/7.
Key facts
Terminal 1
T1 serves primarily international carriers: Air France, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines. It's a single, modern building with good dining and shopping. Connected to T4 and T8 via AirTrain (5 min). Recently renovated with improved security and departure lounges.
Terminal 4
T4 is JFK's largest terminal and Delta's international hub. Also serves Emirates, Etihad, KLM, LATAM, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, and Swiss. Two concourses (A and B) connected by a central hall. The busiest and best-equipped terminal — most lounges, most dining options, most shops. Connected to all terminals via AirTrain.
Terminal 5
T5 is JetBlue's exclusive terminal — modern, well-designed, with good food options (Shake Shack, Blue Smoke). The landmark TWA Hotel is connected to T5 via a walkway — you can visit the rooftop pool and observation deck even if you're not staying. AirTrain stop directly outside.
